New 03 number range now available...

Ofcom, the UK Telecommunications regulator introduced new UK-wide 03 numbers from Autumn 2007.

Calls to 03 numbers should cost the same as calls to geographic numbers (starting 01 or 02) and should be included as part of any inclusive call minutes or discount schemes for geographic calls.

This should apply to calls from any UK operator (Fixed line or Mobile).

No revenue sharing will be permitted on calls to 03 numbers.

The 03 code can be used by organisations with branches across the UK instead of 08 prefixed numbers.

How do they work?

03 numbers simply point or ‘translate’ to an underlying telephone number e.g. 0207 123 1234.

The underlying telephone number is not affected in any way. Any services you have on the line e.g. Call Minder, Call Divert will continue to work as normal.

How much do they cost?

Customers that currently use 0870 numbers should also be aware that from 01.08.09 the price of calling an 0870 number was reduced to the same price as calling an 03 number*.

For some this may negate the need to move to the new 03 number range.

If you can’t decide which non-geographic number is right for your business, call us for a Free no-obligation chat on 0800 505 3210*.

*Lines are open 9.00am-5.00pm, Mon-Fri.
